From Coppélia To H&M

These past couple of weeks haven't been to exciting but I'm absolutely enjoying my summer break!  I have doing a lot of shopping as always but this weekend was great.  I say this because I got to see my beautiful sister and best friend perform the ballet Coppelia.  It was the first time in a while that the studio chose to do an actual ballet for their summer performance, but if you ask me I think it was a hit.
My mom helped with a lot of the costumes making it even more special.  The tutus were fabulous and sparkled from the back row of the theatre.  They did amazing and glowed as usual.  I'm so proud of them this year they really make the studio shine.
Today, my mom and I took a trip down to the Americana in Glendale.  She had never been there and I knew that she would love all of the great shopping and relaxed atmosphere.  And I was right she loved every minute of it.  So after spending hours in H&M and walking around all the other shops we made our way to Trattoria Amici where we had the most amazing pizza and salad lunch ever.  It almost felt as if we were in Italy again.
So this weekend to say the least was full of fun and excitement and lots of things to look forward too.

Here are some pictures from the ballet!

Home For the Holidays?

It feels like it has been forever since my last blog post, but I have been so surprisingly busy with the Nutcracker, wrapping, shopping, helping around the house and much more.  As some of you may know the SBT Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker was last weekend and it was absolutely amazing! I wish you could have all gone and seen it.  The girls and boys did fantastic and it was one show that I honestly know will be remembered for quite a long time. :)
Everyone did so great, and it was definitely hard not being able to dance in it this year.  But I must say I got to see the show in a very different perspective which was helping out backstage and being the "photographer" of the show, if I may say!  This year the show was full of love and dedication and you could see it in all of the dancers eyes hearts that they were there performing because that is what they love to do.  The choreographers did amazing this year and I can't stress enough the beauty and passion of the dancing done on stage.  I also was able to help with hair, make-up, icing injuries :(, and last minute costuming(more like rhine-stoning, hand sewing, gluing, and safety pinning).  Let me just say I don't know why "SAFETY" pins are called "SAFETY" pins because those things are dangerous!
Well, all in all it was a great experience! Below are some of the amazing pictures of the dancers doing what they do best! :)

Also, I finally after 4 long months of waiting got to see one of my best friends Carolina! She came home from the University of Alabama for winter break!  I get to see her for a month, which is great and I can spend the holidays with her!
Well, I hope you all enjoyed the pictures! I mean the dancers are pretty amazing, and I was lucky to be able to catch them at their best! Thanks for reading, and I promise there will be lots to come!
Happy Holidays!

Nutcracker Season

What an amazing weekend, I don't think it could get any better.  It was relaxing, exciting, busy, and just fun.  After coming home on Thursday night I worked on my gingersnap costumes for the Nutcracker photoshoot which was Saturday.  I sewed with help from my mom, till midnight because I wanted to get everything done.  Friday was spent relaxing and I got to see my really great friend Amanda from high school it was fun reuniting with an old friend.  Later that night I went to a Servite playoff game and that was fun besides the fact it was absolutely freezing.
I awaited the big day, the PHOTOSHOOT and all I have to say is CRAZY!  I was running around getting costumes done at last minute and sewing for some of the people/parents who didn't do their given costuming jobs, which was stressful and somewhat annoying.  But you gotta do what you gotta do, and thank goodness I can sew!
Here are some of the amazing costumes most of them made by my mom and I, except for the Sugar Plum! There are so many more costumes I just couldn't show you them all.  I'll try in a later post to put some more pictures u
Doll: Kelsie Mattingly
One of the Doll tutus
The amazing mom I have made my sister a Ballerina Barbie pink tutu to wear.  We rhinestoned, embellished, fitted, and helped create this marvelous tutu.  It's amazing and Kelsie wears it well, with a huge bow and arm poofs she truly is a Ballerina Barbie.
Reed Flute tutu

The Reed Flute costumes were absolutely hideous when they were given to my mom.  It was apparent that they were made carelessly, and showed no care or time at all.  This just made it harder to make them look amazing, but I think we did a great job!

Snow Queen tutu
My mom was the one to help this helpless tutu, with much work done it is now beautiful and Kelsie looks like a true Snow Queen.  My mom added some lace and jewels to the bodice to help make it sparkle, and she gave her some arm poofs and a blue sequenced choker.

Sugar Plum tutu

Jewel Dyson head of costuming this year was up til 2 AM Friday night making the Sugar Plum tutu and her hard work definitely payed off. Isn't it beautiful!  The attention to detail is beautiful, I am in charge of making a beautiful choker to wear.
Sugar Plum: Ava Rosenfeld
English Geeg bodice

These are some of the awesome costumes I helped make.  If you are interested come see the costumes come to life with the amazing dancers.  The Hirschl School of Dance Arts is performing their 22nd annual Nutcracker at Servite High School on Dec. 11 at 11 AM and 7 PM and the 12th at 12 PM.  It is definitely worth seeing.
